Installation of Solaris 2.6 hangs...

...while reading CD-ROM.

After determining devices it begins to read CD-ROM and hangs after displaying:

==> <<< starting interactive installation >>>
==>
==> Booting kernel/unix...
==> SunOS Release 5.6 Version Generic [UNIX(R) System V Release 4.0]
==> Copyright (c) 1983-1997, Sun Microsystems, Inc.
==> /

Configuration is as follows:
4xPPro200
Compaq Netelligent 10
Compaq Netelligent 10/100
Embedded Wide-Ultra SCSI (1x4.3GB disk)
Embedded Wide-Ultra SCSI (DAT drive)
CD-ROM Hitachi CDR-793

Someone have advised me to change somewhat "bridge" parameter in BIOS from default. But I haven't an prompt during booting to enter advanced BIOS Setup (I've used SmartStart 3.5 to configure the server). That man also told me that there was some documentation from Compaq referring to a BIOS change.
Can anybody help me?

Re: Installation of Solaris 2.6 hangs...

It is a common matter installing unises on Proliants. Having entered in System Partition Utilities (by pressing ) one must press to switch to Advanced Mode. Then run Configure Hardware and View and Edit Details. Now find APIC Mode parameter and change it to "Full Table - Mapped". Voi la!

Re: Installation of Solaris 2.6 hangs...

If you're still having the problem, email us at support@compaq.com with the information on what's going on - I might suggest you get a later copy of smartstart (www.compaq.com/smartstart) - we're shipping version 4.9 with 5.0 soon to come out. As an alternative - everything (utilities) can be downloaded from www.compaq.com/support/files/server except the array configuration utility.
