installing HP Smart Array P440 on the DL180 Gen9
I need to upgrade the actual controller of my server (DL180 Gen9 with a 8 LFF drive cage) from a H240 to a HP Smart Array P440/4GB FBWC 12Gb 1-port Int SAS Cont. Server 778455-B21, System ROM, U20 v2.80 (10/16/2020). P440 allows you to create arrays in hp smart storage administrator, but it is not displayed in one-time boot menu. The bios settings were not changed after p240 was replaced with p440.

Re: installing HP Smart Array P440 on the DL180 Gen9
Did you see the Controller in BIOS/UEFI?
F9 > System Configutation > Slot x Smart Array
Video - HPE ProLiant Servers - Introduction to UEFI HPE System Utilities | HPE Support
There you configure your Volumes/Raid first.

I configured Raid in the smart storage administrator utility, is this not correct?

Re: installing HP Smart Array P440 on the DL180 Gen9
It's the same.
So the Controller is visible and you configure successfully the Raid and Volume, but the OS did not find a Disk or the Controller during Setup?

Re: installing HP Smart Array P440 on the DL180 Gen9
The OS is installed normally, the disk is visible. But the OS doesn't load. The P440 controller is not in the UEFI Boot Order. Is setting the priority of bootable logical disks/volumes in smart storage administrator utility necessary?

Re: installing HP Smart Array P440 on the DL180 Gen9
OMG- That's strange
The last thing I know is BIOS (2.90_04-29-2021) and Array Firmware (7.0) up to Date?
If yes, I'm out.

Re: installing HP Smart Array P440 on the DL180 Gen9
As far, I know this setting for bootable devices is only needed for Legacy Boot Mode.
So Question is: Do you use Legacy Boot = BIOS or UEFI Boot?
The controller boots from the first logical drive by default.
Cali
The UEFI System Utilities is embedded in the system ROM. The UEFI System Utilities enable you to
perform a wide range of configuration activities, including:
• Selecting the primary boot controller
Setting bootable devices for Legacy Boot Mode
Setting the primary and secondary bootable devices (Legacy Boot Mode)
Procedure
1. From the System Utilities screen, select System Configuration > controller > Set Bootable
Device(s) for Legacy Boot Mode > Select Bootable Logical Drive > logical drive.
2. In the Logical Drive screen, select either of the following:
• Set as Primary Bootable Device
• Set as Secondary Bootable Device
Setting the number of OS bootable drives (Legacy Boot Mode)
Procedure
1. From the System Utilities screen, select System Configuration > controller > Set Bootable
Device(s) for Legacy Boot Mode > Number of OS bootable drives.
2. In the Number of OS bootable drives screen, specify the number of OS bootable drives.
3. Click Submit Changes.

I found a similar case
but I do not know how to clear the controller configuration?
