Integrated Lights Out (ilo) feature help

I am configuring my first server so work with me here. :) Yes, learning as I go since I don't really have a choice.

I reinstalled the OS on a new server just to become more comfortable with how it works. Good to know in case something bad happens. Now, I didn't configure the Integrated Lights Out (ilo) feature before setting this up. It's not live on our network since I am testing but I have it almost ready to go.

Is this Integrated Lights Out (ilo) feature something I can configure now? If so, how?

Excuse my lack of knowledge but I tried doing a search but could not find anything.

Re: Integrated Lights Out (ilo) feature help

Hi,

Yes. The iLO feature is independant of the OS.

If you connect the iLO port up to a normal network socket, it should pick up a DHCP IP address (assuming you have a DHCP server on that network).

Depending on the version of iLO you should see the IP address it's been assigned when you reboot. Then simply point a browser at that IP address and you'll get access to the iLO. Login with the username and password - which are normally attached to the server somewhere...

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Pete, you can find information about iLO including whitepapers, best practices and user documentation from http://www.hp.com/servers/manage --> iLO
