intelligent provisioning and offline SSA won't launch! Stuck on Loading ramdisk
Hi everyone:
I was on my server and I needed to go into the intelligent provisioning, and incountered something weird. I went to boot to it, and it seemed like it was loading but got stuck on loading ramdisk, (and I am still trying after meny reboots and tried a update on it via USB and burning it onto a cd.) and it still wont get past that. My fans WILL go down, keyboard gets reininaitlaized but nothing afterwoards. I thought I should just leave it running for a bit, came back 15 minutes later and nothing.
I've tried reseting the iLO, rebooting (duh), and updating intelligent provisioning to 1.74.
I used this: Software Details - Intelligent Provisioning Recovery Media | HPE Support
I also saw Software Details - Intelligent Provisioning for Microsoft Windows 64-bit Operating Systems | HPE Support
But it was on 1.64, older than the newest one, but after not being able to boot to 1.74, i tried that and it also would not load.
System:
2 of E5 2667 v2
64GB of 1866 mhz DDR3, part number 712383-081
iLO 2.82
RTX 3060 (Yes the fans hate this gpu i don't care)
What works:
BIOS, iLO
What does not work:
intelligent provisioning, Offline SSA (Smart storage Administrator)
I am thinking of Reformatting the NAND, how to is here
Document - Advisory: (Revision) HPE Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) – How to Format the NAND Used to Store AHS logs, OneView Profiles, and Intelligent Provisioning | HPE Support
But I want to make sure I am not doing something stupid before doing that.

Re: intelligent provisioning and offline SSA won't launch! Stuck on Loading ramdisk
Hello,
I would agree with your action plan of reformatting the NAND. Updating the IP is generally foolproof and if it does not work then there may be a problem with the location it is run from (NAND).
Also, if you do need to get into the SSA or some other utilities, you should have the option to boot from the SPP which has many of these included also.

Re: intelligent provisioning and offline SSA won't launch! Stuck on Loading ramdisk
Alright, after reformating the NAND, it was still stuck. After reseting my BIOS setttings and reflashing that, its working again, although I see some worrying messages when booting to SSA or IP (Intelegent Provisioning), the 2 messages are that I can remember (I'll check later today around 8:00am est its 12:50am for me rn)
Update: here they are
plymounthd: Could not start boot splash: No such file or directory
cat: can't open proc/mounts: no such file or directory
Original:
I'll post a reply and update this when I boot my server tomarow.
This all happened from a BSOD, and my system hard shut down, lost 2 arays at once, and my system would no longer boot to windows. I have no idea what could of caused such a big fail. (I got my arays back but without the data and got windows back again)
So I got IP and SSA to work again just with worrying messages. Is that normal?

Re: intelligent provisioning and offline SSA won't launch! Stuck on Loading ramdisk
Hello,
Gen8 and Gen9 servers have the potential to wear out the NAND. It is possible that may be related to the errors being observed when booting IP. However, this should have no impact on the operation of the server.
It would be good to determine what caused the initial BSOD (it was likey related to the loss of the storage). If there is still something wrong in the array there is the potential for the same type of problem to reoccur.

Re: intelligent provisioning and offline SSA won't launch! Stuck on Loading ramdisk
Alright, I just got up and here are the corrected "errors"
plymounthd: Could not start boot splash: No such file or directory
cat: can't open proc/mounts: no such file or directory
SSA and IP still load, just with that.
For the Details of the BSOD, it had nothing in iLO logs, and windows would not boot again, as part of the boot partition had somehow moved over to the erased arays, so I lost everything there.
I just did a check on cables and 2 cables were loose, (The ones that connect the P430 into the bays in the front. I will refer to this as just cables.) I put them back in tightly, and all seems fine for now. The fail occured after a test of GPU in my gen 9, and concluding that I should stay on gen 8 due to the higher cpu clocks, so I was in there putting it back and prob messed up cable management and had the 2 cables slightly out? It still would not explan how the arays got wiped. I was gaming when It crashed so the cables might of gotten hotter and disconected?
