We have a ML110 Gen10 machine which was put into production around 3 - 4 years ago. Have had no issues with running upgrades either by the software package download or using Intelligent Provisioning for firmware upgrades. This changed yesterday. I went to install a couple more SFF SAS drives to create an additiaonal RAID 1 instance when IP indicated there were many firmware upgrades available to install. My bad for not keeping up with these so, ILO was the recommended upgrade to install first. That went well with no hitches. Upon rebooting & returning to IP firmware upgrades, there was a GEN10 server upgrade & a couple others that were already selected by the system so, I proceeded to install these. After quite the wait for these to complete, the first reboot came up with a screen showning a countdown to the system performing a "Self Update" I let the timer expire, next screen shows the Ramdisk being initialized then.... Bad Signature error...Press any key to contine. I did exactly that and the next screen was what you might consider a Windoze blue screen with a screenful indicating "Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block (0,0).
I am totally at a loss as the system boots the default Windows 2019 server & runs all the RAID assignments with no issues. I have searched many posts & found some that were similar but not the same error. I'd really like to be able to access Intelligent Provisioning again but at this point in time, each time I reboot, hit the F10 key, the same sequence of issues occurs. Afterwards, I did download the latest service pack 9+gb & installed it with no errors as I read in one post that this was the suggested remedy for the Bad Signature error.
Help???

SolutionHi @jalbright1957 ,
I believe the HPE Intelligent Provisioning is not working now. You can recover the Intelligent Provisioning by HPE Intelligent Provisioning recovery media.
Please download and boot this media, this will reinstall the Intelligent Provisioning to latest version.

Re: Intelligent Provisioning Firmware Upgrade Error
Hello Shiva,
I had been contemplating on doing this very thing but was unsure as this is a production server. At any rate, I first burned the ISO image to a USB stick using Rufus & made it bootable. The ML110 booted fine from the USB port but after initializing the Ramdisk & stating that communication with iLO may be lost whiile it was reading the USB stick (assuming it was doing that), it came back with an error stating it could not mount the install media press R to reboot. I do recall reading about using the HPE USB key utility so, I installed that, burned the image & rebooted with it. Vwalla.... All is good now. Thank you for helping me not continue to chase my tail.
