I purchased a brand new HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2 server and iLO enablement kit on Amazon.com on September 15, 2023. After receiving the goods, due to some reasons I was not at home and did not unpack and use them in time.
Until recently, I went home, unpacked the server, and installed the iLO enablement kit.
Since this was my first HPE server, I excitedly turned it on and logged into the iLO management interface, and then upgraded the BIOS and iLO firmware according to the official website.
But when I planned to officially use the iLO management system, I found that there were several cleared log records in the log list, which occurred on August 3, 2023, and the iLO Event Log number started from 826, the Integrated Management Log number started from 65, Security Log numbers start from 30.
May I ask if this is normal? Or is my machine labeled as "new" on Amazon.com actually a second-hand or refurbished machine?
Looking forward to your answer, thank you!

Re: Is my brand new machine used or refurbished?
Hi,
I cannot comment on your Amazon purchase, but if you have questions about refurbished or used product, please check the serial number here by logging into HPE. https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/wc/public/home
You may also contact HPE Support over the phone. https://www.hpe.com/us/en/contact-hpe.html
Thank You!

Re: Is my brand new machine used or refurbished?
Hi, thank you for your reply.
I have checked the serial number on the Warranty Check page, and it shows that the warranty starts on August 18, 2023, and ends on September 16, 2024. It seems that the expiration date is indeed 1 year from the date of my purchase.
Does this prove whether my machine is brand new or refurbished?
In addition, I would like to ask whether the new HPE machine comes with a clear log record before leaving the factory. And there will be many log records before leaving the factory, causing the log record number to not start from 1?
What I am concerned about is whether my machine is brand new. If it is not brand new, I will ask Amazon to handle the matter.

Re: Is my brand new machine used or refurbished?
Hello,
Each server goes through testing prior to be shipped out. I would not expect that the server is "used/preowned". Besides these events that you observed, is there any other indications of prior use? This would include finding configuration on the iLO (accounts, IP addresses, etc.), in the BIOS, and/or in the Intelligent Provisioning (IP .... accessed by pressing F10).
Also, any server that comes from HPE as refurbished typically have an indication of that in the product ID (many times it ends in an "R") when refurbished.

Re: Is my brand new machine used or refurbished?
@thutchings @Suman_1978 Thank you for your reply.
I found no other traces of usage.
Since this is my first HPE server, I want to confirm whether there are clear log records in the initial iLO of each HPE server, and the log number does not start from 1?
Also, my device's serial number ends with "RG", does that mean this machine is not a refurbished machine at least according to the serial number?

SolutionHello,
You can clear each of the logs (IML, iLO, etc.), but they sequence numbers will not start from 1. At the top, there is a trash can icon that will clear all "old" events and will accomplish what you want.
The serial number ending in "RG" is not significant. The information in the product ID would be the more significant part of this. If you direct message me the serial number I can check using internal tools, but I do not believe there is any indication that this is refurbished.
