Is there HP Proliant DL server with...
Hi,
I'm interested is there an 8-way server, with initially 2cpu's and expandable on 8cpu's??
Information i got from HPPB that DL760G2 is 8P capable (but-"populated in groups of 4").
I'm asking is there 8-way server starting with 2cpu's??
thanx,
Gordan Topalovic

Re: Is there HP Proliant DL server with...
The short answer is no. The 740 and 760 need to be populated in groups of 4 due to the design. Even the CPU kits are sold as single part numbers with 4 CPU's.
Now, there is the Dual Core options. There is the DL580/585 where you can start out with 1 Dual Core proc (2 CPU's) and end up with 4 dual Core procs later on (8 CPU's).
It is, for all intensive purposes, an 8way server.

NB - in the DL585 you could only have 2 or 4 dual-core CPUs (i.e. 4 or 8 cores).
Don't panic! [THGTTG]
