Hello,
i got a strange problem and hope you can help me out:
I installed the official custom HPE Vmware ESXI 7.03 Image on a HP Proliant G10 Server, which is working fine.
After that, i wanted to use SUM to Upgrade the firmware / software and drivers. So i downloaded the latest SPP and startet SUM on a WIndows Machine.
When adding the vmware server to my node view following message appears:
VMware server of generation post Gen9 identified
Starting with Gen10 servers, updates to systems running ESXi are performed via the iLO maintenance interface. Please use iLO IP and credentials to update this system.
Post Gen9 generations seems to be correct, because the latest custom image of vmware 7.03 for G10 is used, but i dont how i'am able to run the SPP via ILO the ilo maintenance interface.
As far as i know, in ILO i'am able to pick specific firmware files and install them, but that is not what i want.
I want to run the server against the current SPP baseline, which installs the latest firmware packages and also drivers with ISUM.
Maybe there is a way to run the SPP in ESXI G10 Server environments. I have seen a workaround to halt the Server before booting into ESXI and run SPP to get at least the firmware installed, but that cannot be the way.
Maybe someone knows an appropriate workflow.
Thank you in advance,
Fred

Betreff: Query: Issue running SPP / SUM on ESXI G10 Servers
Just to clarify:
I have neither a embedded SATA HP Dynamic Smart Array B140i Controller in this server, nor Vsphere 5.0 to 5.5.
The other topic is about a failing HPE Intel Online Firmware Upgrade on Vsphere 6.7, which is also not the case here.
The message appear as soon as i add the VSphere Server to my Nodes in SUM.
Maybe someone else has some advice,
Thank you in advance,
Fred

SolutionHello,
Please refer the below document.
Also, please try with the iLO IP address.
Thanks.

Re: Betreff: Query: Issue running SPP / SUM on ESXI G10 Servers
Hi ManBha and thank you for your reply.
The Site: "Installing VMware software Smart Components on Gen10 using SUM and iSUT" explains it very well: "For Gen10 servers, add an iLO node (use iLO IP for requested IP address)."
I don't thought i should use the ILO IP instead of the OS IP Address in SUM and verify the iSum installation on the Server itself.
Thank you for pointing that out.
Best regards,
Fred
