Issue with NIC Card 562SFP+
Hi All,
and sorry for my English.
Proliant DL380 Gen (with additional NIC card 562SFP+) updated to last SPP 2024.04.00.02
If i check (in the ILO) in System Information -> Device Inventory i found the card as in below image and it is enabled
Instead it is not available in Network Section as for below image
Nothing changed after an MCTP Factory reset.
Could someone help me figure out what the issue might be?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.
Massimo

Re: Issue with NIC Card 562SFP+
Hi @lmaximo ,
please take the steps as follows -
a. Check the server model is supported with the NIC adapter. Refer the quickspecs, this adapter is supported on DL380 gen9.
b. Update the server firmware using the SPP.
c. Please check whether is this adapter available in operating system installed.

Re: Query: Issue with NIC Card 562SFP+
Hello Massimo,
If the 562SFP+ NIC card is listed under System Information -> Device Inventory in iLO but does not appear in the Network section, there could be several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps and checks to help resolve the problem:
- Check that both the NIC card and server firmware are up to date, especially after the recent SPP 2024.04.00.02 update. If the firmware on the NIC card isn't updated or is incompatible, it could cause detection issues.
- Confirm that the correct drivers are installed for the NIC in the OS, especially if the NIC model isn't natively supported by your hypervisor or OS (ESXi 8.0U3, in your case).
- Go into the server's BIOS/UEFI and ensure that the NIC card is enabled. Sometimes, NIC cards are not fully initialized if they're disabled in the UEFI settings.
- Check if there's an option for the NIC to be exposed to the operating system.
- Sometimes a PCI slot may appear in inventory but be disabled or have issues on the bus. Confirm that the PCI slot where the 562SFP+ card is installed is functioning properly and that it's not disabled.
- You can use iLO’s Embedded Diagnostics or check the OS logs to see if there are any errors related to the PCI bus or device initialization.
- If the NIC supports SR-IOV or Network Partitioning (NPAR), check if these features are enabled. Sometimes, network cards with partitioning enabled can cause confusion if the partitions or virtual functions aren't set up correctly or visible to the OS.
- Try reset the iLO Network Settings and see if that helps
- Since you are using ESXi 8.0U3, make sure that the NIC is compatible with the version you're running. VMware compatibility issues could prevent the card from being properly exposed, even if it appears in iLO inventory.
- Use esxcli network nic list to verify if the NIC is visible to the hypervisor. If not, check if any required drivers (VIBs) are missing or outdated.
- Physically reseat the NIC card if you haven't already. Loose or improperly seated connections can sometimes cause detection issues, even though the card may be partially visible in the inventory.
I hope these steps might help in resolving. Let me know if you still face the same issue
