Keyboard/mouse non-responsive during XP installation
I have been trying to install Windows XP Professional on my Prosignia Server 740 (with standard keyboard and mouse) but every time it gets to the point of "Windows Installation" and the screen pops up that allows you to "Customize" your settings, both my mouse and keyboard are non-responsive.
When I "hard" reboot (my only option), the keyboard remains functional (e.g. the Num Lock key toggles on and off) until the Windows XP screen pops up. I have also upgraded the BIOS to the latest version (12/8/2000).
I simply can't believe I need a new driver... perhaps I need an old driver. Can I copy old keyboard/mouse drivers from NT 4.0 or Windows 98 or Windows 2000? If so, which files? Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Robert Jaksa

Re: Keyboard/mouse non-responsive during XP installation
The solution is quite simple. Run Compaq's System Configuration Utility (on a new or reformatted disk drive) before trying to install either Windows 2000 or Windows XP. For some reason, Windows NT and Windows 98 installed properly without running System Configuration Utility while 2000 and XP would not.
