Longhorn On DL-380 G5

Has anybody done a succesfull installation of Longhorn RC-2 aka W2K8?

We want install this to test the new server from MS before deplying in a production environment.

Installation for us generates a kernel panic (BSCOD) when trying to install the USB-driver from the "Longhorn-CD".

Clearly, Win2k3 is not meant for PRODUCTION environment YET !
Wait until Official release from MS(feb,2008) & future updates from HP.

To add to Happy Dude's comment, Manual Install means that you will need to install the operating system directly from the CD.

Please also check for the compatibility of Linux operating systems RHEL & SLES for this server at:

How do I actually install the PSP-7.90 supportpack on a Win-2008 Longhorn - server when first installation fails due to the USB_BUG_MODE code.

just to be sure DL380 G5 is supported I mean for test environment of course just take car of this

- have the latest BIOS
and because some time ago one had a similar issue update the firmware for ilo.
why here it is

Issue 5 A blue screen error may display during installation of Windows Server 2008 RC0.

Description A blue screen displaying a â BUGCODE_USB_DRIVERâ error may display upon
installation of Windows Server 2008 RC0.

Workaround If this error occurs, download and install iLO 2 firmware Version 1.29 (or later).

if you have OS right now update both online one at a time if no OS download firmware CD

the last time updating ilo firmware was the solution for that BSOD and the driver usb reference

Just now downloading the firmware CD.
Slow going.

Max,
Issues with HP web servers today. Hence download will be very SLOW. It may say... 20-30 hrs to complete. or, you may see "Page not found". Work is on to fix this.

update firmware, install W2008 and let us know the results

*** I dont know if uisng Smartstart you can install W2008, try if not manual installation
