Maintenance switch is on, turn off the server and turn switch off.

Hi, switch 6 is not on; in fact, all the switches are off. I have tried numerous times flipping it on and off, but the Board may be bricked. Any ideas to correct that, other than the conventional troubleshooting that have been suggested here? Thanks!

@FMCASADO1

Can you please mention the Server details?

It is a production server ML350p Gen8. I have access to iLo4, installed the latest BIOS update. But appears to be bricked, because no maintenance switch is on at all. Switch 6 is off and all the other ones.

Hello,

If the BIOS update is successfull, did you try allowing it to boot into the operating system?

Re: Maintenance switch is on, turn off the server and turn switch off.

No option to allow it to boot up into the OS. It stops there at the post message: тАЭMaintenance Switch is on, turn off server and turn off the switch off.тАЭ There is no option beyond that message. I have pressed f9, f8, f10, f12, etc.
Thanks!!

Re: Maintenance switch is on, turn off the server and turn switch off.

Hello @ FMCASADO1

Thank you for your Post.

Please note : When the system maintenance switch position 6 is set to the On position, the system is prepared to erase all system configuration settings from both CMOS and NVRAM.

CAUTION: Clearing CMOS and/or NVRAM deletes configuration information. Be sure to properly configure the server or data loss could occur.

The following steps may be performed to clear NVRAM using the system maintenance switch on the system board:

  1. Extend the server from the rack, remove the access panel, and locate the system maintenance switch
  2. Move switch S6 from default 'Off' position to 'On', install the access panel and connect the power cable to the walljack and power it on.

When a message indicates that a maintenance switch has been turned on and the unit has been reset, power it off, remove the power cable from the walljack. Remove it from the rack, remove the access panel and reverse switch S6 to 'Off' and then power the server back again

Regards

No, the problem persists. I ordered a new system board that I will get today. Hopefully, everything will be ok soon.

Hi, installed a used Board I bought, and now the server is running smoothly. My Tesla K80 and Quadro K4000 are both blazing flawlessly. That board I had mustтАЩve gotten bricked. At least now I have a functional server.
