Re: Memory Error In Compaq ProLiant 2500
Are you using a Smart Start CD or just trying directly from a W2K CD?? Secondly, are you starting from scratch?? Please post the answers to my questions and then I shall let you know as to how to go about setting up your server.

SolutionI would recommend using Smart Start but in any case you don't then the first thing you would need to do is run system erase and then boot with the first diskette of System Configuration Disks. Here are links:
1. System Erase
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17918.html
2. System Configuration
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/13227.html
Please let me know if I could be of further assistance.

Re: Memory Error In Compaq ProLiant 2500
This is very strange. If it would not have picked up more then 16MB of RAM then you would not have been able to install OS. By the way how is your memory configuration in the server?? Is it COMPAQ or Non COMPAQ?? And what is the firmware of your SA 2P controller??

Re: Memory Error In Compaq ProLiant 2500
Since the firmware of your controller is out of date so let's fix that issue first. You need SP4433 which will bring you to 2.02, SP8562 shall bring you to 3.08, SP19677 shall bring your controller at par to the latest one which is 4.50. You definitely need to upg the firmware. Here is the link to download all of these and please make sure that you use them the way I have explained.

Re: Memory Error In Compaq ProLiant 2500
The only thing I can think of at this point is either the RAM is no good or the slots have failed. Something is not right because despite running the latest SCU the memory could not be initialized. Here is memory matrix for your server and see if all the specs are alright at your end. You may need to have the system board replaced. But look at the specs sheet I have attached and go from there.

Re: Memory Error In Compaq ProLiant 2500
I did provide you the link for System configuration and you said you did that already. Now I have no idea as to what's going on at your end. Just be aware that if you intend to set up RAID5 then surely you would need the smart start CD.

Re: Memory Error In Compaq ProLiant 2500
I am aware of this link. But your server problem is that it is not picking up your RAM. Whether it's configured or not it's suppose to show the basic hardware. In your situation it's not. Am I right??

Re: Memory Error In Compaq ProLiant 2500
The best place to check your problem would be on MS Technet site or contact MS for any operating system related issues. If I come across anything to help you I shall post it for you.
