missing raid controller (Proliant microserver Gen11)
I have a new Gen11 Microserver. 2 sata HD are installed (4TB). If I try to execute Intelligent Provisioning , the SATA raid controller wasn't detected. I'm not able to made RAID 1 configuration.
I try to use Intelligent Provisioning Recovery Media .iso DVD, but I haven't solved it.
Someone who can help me?
Thanks

Re: missing raid controller (Proliant microserver Gen11)
Hi @mauro_ds ,
>> The server’s storage controller either isn’t initializing or Intelligent Provisioning (IP) doesn’t have a compatible RAID management driver/utility for that controller version.
>> On some Gen11 MicroServers the onboard controller is a chipset/firmware type that IP doesn’t show as a “Smart Array” device (so you can’t build a RAID from the IP UI), or the controller requires a firmware/driver update or an optional hardware RAID module.
>> If the controller is actually in AHCI mode (not RAID mode) IP will not present a RAID configuration option.
I would suggest you to try the below steps:
1. Reboot → get into UEFI/BIOS -> note storage controller name and mode (RAID/AHCI).
2. Boot a Linux live USB and run lspci to confirm whether the controller is present to the OS.
3. If controller is present but IP doesn’t show it: download and apply the latest Intelligent Provisioning and firmware for your exact model (from HPE).
4. After updates, boot IP and check Smart Storage Administrator.

Re: missing raid controller (Proliant microserver Gen11)
Thank you Greeshma,
could you explain me how to do point 3) ?
My server is HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen11.
From IP interface, update function doesn't work (repository unreachable, but LAN connection works good)
thanks

Re: missing raid controller (Proliant microserver Gen11)
Hi @mauro_ds ,
I suggest to Check Intelligent Provisioning version and firmware.
If IP is old/out-of-date with the Gen11 hardware it may not recognize the controller. Download and install the latest System ROM/UEFI and IP image for Gen11 from HPE or use the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) offline ISO to update firmware offline.
Here is the bootable offline firmware bundle - HPE Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP)
and Intelligent Provisioning Recovery Media
For more info, please refer to the HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen11 quickspecs.

Greeshma

Re: missing raid controller (Proliant microserver Gen11)
@Greeshma21 Service pack was regulary executed, but controller raid not visible.
Setting intel vroc mode I can build raid1, but windows installer doesn't recognize any drive available....
