Mix and Match PC3-8500R and PC3-10600R RAM in DL380 G6
Hi - I have like Samsung 96GB (12 x 8GB PC3-10600R DDR3-1333) ram already in my server which works fine.
I plan on adding 6 more sticks of PC3-8500 (HP Part # 500206-071), but want to make sure those two can be mixed?
I understand the server will probably default to the lower speed for RAM with the lowest frequency.
I tried using the online tool by putting in the part number for memory 500206-071 as a scenario as installed, but it doesn't show up when I continue with the diagram.
Just wanted to run it by if this will work.
Thanks

Mixing lower speed should be fine, the only hard rule is you can't mix unbuffered UDIMMs with registered RDIMMs

Re: Mix and Match PC3-8500R and PC3-10600R RAM in DL380 G6
Thank you for that info as a follow-up, would mixing PC3-10600R VLP type dimm work as well?
That is the very low profile one for blade servers, but was wondering if it will be fine a DL380 G6
Thanks

Re: Mix and Match PC3-8500R and PC3-10600R RAM in DL380 G6
Hi,
The server only support LP DIMMs, low power and not very low power DIMMs. The supported memory module for this server is:
HP 4GB (1x4GB) Quad Rank x8 PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066) Registered CAS-7 Low Power Memory Kit, with option part number 500660-B21.
