ML 150 G3 with RHES4 and raid1

i installed redhat enterprise linux ES4 to ML150 G3 server with raid 1.When the server getting booted shows the raid status as OPTIMAL. but when working at the OS level if i remove one hard drive physically,the machine stucks.
