ML 370 G3 Disk not detected

I have a server as above that will detected any phyiscal disks.

So far have replaced drive bay with back plane, smart controller card, and scsi cable between c ontroller card and drive bay.

The drive bay and disks get power as seen by leds but the controller always reports that no phyiscal disks are detected.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: ML 370 G3 Disk not detected

Hi Colin,

As you say the harddrives are not detected by the controller card, could you connect the cables from the scsi backplane to the onboard SCSI controller and check if the Harddisks are detected during the post.

If the Harddisks are detected on the onboard controller then could be some issue with the controller card. If Harddisks are not detected by the onboard controller also then it could be issue with the cable or SCSI backplane. Swap the cables and check. Still not detected, reseat the SCSI backplane and check. Many times reseating the scsi backplane has resolved the issue.

Thanks for the reply. But as stated in my original post I have swapped cable controller card and back plane for new parts and still no disks detected

Re: ML 370 G3 Disk not detected

Hi Colin,

Have you tried to connect the drives to onboard controller and check.

If all the components are replaced and still the issue exists. Then try to swap the drives to a different server and check if the drives are fine. Nothing more I could suggest.

Raj.

Thanks for the reply again. I have tried connecting the drives to the onboard scsi. And it freezes during post when trying to detect. Tried a different cable on the onboard and results are the same
