ML110 G5 SATA controller port 1 only showing SATA1 drives
Hello,
I have a ML100 G5 and using the on-board SATA controller I have the original 250GB drive on the port 1 and an additional 250GB on port 2.
The drive on port 1 is showing as a SATA1 and the additional is showing as SATA2.
I have swapped the drives over on the ports and the original is now showing as SATA2 on port 2 and the additional drive showing as SATA1 on port 1.
I have looked in the BIOS and cannot see how these can be changed.
Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks in advance
Giles

Re: ML110 G5 SATA controller port 1 only showing SATA1 drives
When you say SATA1 and SATA2 how are you expecting these to show up? Where are you seeing this? By SATA2 do you mean the new drive should be showing up as a SATA II drive?
Judging by the behavior you are seeing I believe SATA1 and SATA2 are the indentification you will see no matter what kind of drives are attached to those particular SATA ports. Do you have a third SATA drive you could connect to SATA port #3? I would be interested in knowing what results you have.

The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: ML110 G5 SATA controller port 1 only showing SATA1 drives
Hi,
In the BIOS setup screen it shows the drive name/model number and then S1 or S2 (SATA1 or SATA2)
When booting up after the memory test then then shows 250GB (SATA1) for drive 1 and drive 2 as 251GB (SATA2).
I will test with a 3rd SATA drive later!
