ML115 nVidia RAID bluescreen

We have at least three ML115's in the field using the built-in nVidia RAID controller. One of them is bluescreening occasionally. The Event ID is 1003 and the error in the event viewer is: Error code 000000d1, parameter1 000001a8, parameter2 d0000007, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 f727df6b.

We have good reason to believe that it is the RAID driver causing this problem. We don't know what for sure what file is being referenced in the blue screen - hopefully we'll find out soon.

Here's the different RAID drivers we are using. Machine3* is the one that is bluescreening:

Machine1 - Driver Version 5.10.2600.951 1/12/2007
Machine2 - Driver Version 5.10.2600.678 7/10/2006
Machine3* - Driver Version 5.10.2600.998 8/9/2007

Wondering if anyone else is running into this problem.

Re: ML115 nVidia RAID bluescreen

Windows 2000, 2003 or 2008?
Event ID 1003, source?

Thanks,

Re: ML115 nVidia RAID bluescreen

It's Small Business Server 2003. I believe the event source is "System".

Re: ML115 nVidia RAID bluescreen

since it minidump clearly says
nvgts.sys is causing that

try using of the driver used for the other servers that are working fine

Machine1 - Driver Version 5.10.2600.951 1/12/2007
Machine2 - Driver Version 5.10.2600.678 7/10/2006

Re: ML115 nVidia RAID bluescreen

This error is caused by the NVIDIA├В┬о nForce Professional Driver for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 9.24 available from:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3683705&prodNameId=3683706&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-f2f75faece27417fab51adc52c

The file name is ml115g5nvidianforce2k3-9.24.zip.

As you have specified version 998 of the SATA RAID driver causes the BSOD sited. It is demonstrable when writing to DVD media in particular.

Version 951 of the SATA RAID driver is stable, available as ml115g1nvidiaraidw2k3-5.10.2600.0951.zip from

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3683705&prodNameId=3683706&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-b697dfb5763f49d199166070a5

However once the chipset drivers have been installed it can't be rolled back or upgraded as the version number is lower.

Select the NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller from SCSI and RAID Controller, driver, update, don't search I will choose..., have disk and select the location of the extracted files, then reboot.
