ML150 G3 Ubuntu Dapper Graphics (Matrox 200?)

I have problems running Ubuntu Dapper on the Proliant ML150 G3.
According to hwinfo:
Vendor: pci 0x102b "Matrox Graphics, inc"
Subvendor: pci 0x103c "Hewlett-Packard Company"
Device: pci 0x0522
Model: "Hewlett-Packard Company VGA compatible controller".

I've tried:
The mga driver from the ubuntu repos
The mga driver from the CD
The mga driver from matrox.com
The vesa driver (as on the diagnostic CD)
The vga driver from the ubuntu repos

I get the following error in X.org:
(II) MGA: driver for Matrox chipsets: (a few, including:) mgag100, mgag100 PCI, mgag200, mpag200 PCI
(II) Primary Device is: ISA
(EE) No devices detected

Fatal server error:
no screens found

Has anyone got this thing to work under debian or ubuntu, or another debian deriative.

Configuring ISA as "device" in xorg.conf gave a kernel panic.
