ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

I am looking for the correct driver to install W2K8 64bits from scratch. W2K3 drivers will not work. I tried CP008698.exe. W2K8 will see the storage but refuses to continue with the message "Windows could not determine if this computer contains a valid system volume"
Also an upgrade from W2K3 64bits fails with a blue screen after the first reboot.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Sorry but HP has not completed drivers for WS2008. Maybe they are working on them and maybe they are not, difficult to get a reliable answer for vaporware. Several expected completion dates have passed already. Of course they do have new drivers for the Smart Array, but that you will have to buy extra. Its disapointing to me because they advertize this server to work with WS2008...and it does, you just cannot use the embedded controler in raid mode. Wish they would put that in the advertizing so you could know before you buy. So what else is new??

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

hi

you in fact are using the correct driver

check this the second answer
http://forums.technet.microsoft.com/en/winserversetup/thread/3c19d0a6-52d9-439d-9398-9aa9f6da6e0c/

insert the USB key when is needed and remove when the controller takes the driver

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

To Karlo:

Your reference here is for the Smart Array. There are drivers for the Smart Array but not for the Embedded SATA Raid Controller on the ML150G5.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

The 27e of july will be the official release of the W2K8 64bit driver for the Embedded SATA RAID controller.
This is what an official representitive from HP explained to me.
If you make a support call they probably will sent you the driver before the official release. I am waiting for that.
All options mentioned before do not work. Installing is succesfull but with the first reboot W2K* stops with a blue screen.
Thanks for your responces.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Thanks for the info. Hope your rep is correct. Here I sit waiting to get a server going that was suppose to be compatible with WS2008 out of the box. Please I would appreciate updates if it doesn't happen by the 27th.

I will let you know

and yes my link referred to smart array but it was the same thing adding driver manually I know for sure which controller we are talking about

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

OK
my scenario
ML150 G5 - W2008 X64 - file cp008698.exe(for W2008 x64)
Embedded SATA controller - 2 HDDs - RAID 1

I got it working the driver is the correct one
but I also had this message "Windows could not determine if this computer contains a valid system volume"

so let me tell you how to avoid it and install W2008 x32 or X64 just fine.

Working scenario.
1. Configure RAID.
2. Insert W2008 DVD
3. DVD loaded continue GUI installation.
4. I inserted USB when was needed to load Driver
5. I loaded (driver is within a folder call amd64)
6. Continue my W2008 recognize RAID 1, continue, installing copying... GOOD :-)

not this is the way you can get the error above.
I noticed If I left my USB flash drive connected when server loaded you know HP Screen, recognize HDDs, USB MASS STORAGE is recognized too (the culprit here)

continue W2008 installation I got the error
"Windows could not determine if this comput..."

conclusion when the server recognized the USB during POST W2008 got confused and try to continue OS installation and it can not continue and you got that message.

so conclusion insert the USB KEY (USB flash drive) when windows GUI starts

also the driver WORKS!!!!

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

I did an install with the cp008698 driver burned on the installation disk. Worked fine but after the first reboot I got a blue screen; 0x0000007b (0xfffffa60005af9d0,0xffffffffc0000034). Starting in Safe Mode the systm halts on crcdisk.sys.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

I just installed OS I logged in and check everything but did not reboot I just turn off machine pressing power button(I was in a hurry).

I will check that tomorrow guys and be back to you

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Turned controller to IDE and W2K8 starts normally. Proberly in RAID mode W2K8 tries to load the driver aarahci.sys after crcdisk.sys which fails because it is not the proper driver for W2K8 and the result is a BSOD.
In the device list there are still to devices not properly installed; SM Bus Controller and an Unknown device. Any idea which drivers are needed or do we still have to wait fir that as well?

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Still the same with me. I hoped that installing the SM Bus driver would make a difference.
Karlo, do you load the SM Bus controller driver or does this still have a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager.
I will try a fresh installation today.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Guess they missed the date. Don't see it on the download page, just the Smart Array. Probably will have to buy the Smart Array to have raid on the ML150G5 with Server 2008.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

Im having the same problem. I get the Blue screen once reboot after setting the RAID 1. I have tried all drivers & fail. When are the Win2008 x64 drivers available? This is so frustrating. Im using the HP USB floppy to load the drivers.

Without RAID, it works flawless.

Re: ML150 G5 HP Embedded SATA RAID Controller driver

It appears HP wants you to purchase the Smart Array if you want raid. There are no drivers for the Embedded SATA RAID Contoller that work with WS2008. Several release dates have passed with no driver. Foiled again.
