ML310 G5 embedded controller raid 1 hard drive failure and rebuild problem

Hello,

Here is the config

ML310 G5 embedded raid controller running raid 1

Windows server 2003 r2 x64

1 hard drive failed due to bad firmware originally two 500gb seagate hard drives

purchased 2 new seagate constellation es 1 tb

Bios updated to latest version

No good original backup

here is what happened.

inserted 1 new hard drive set server to rebuild with existing old hard drive

I was going to then rebuild yet again with second new hard drive.

The first rebuild said it finished 100%

When restarting server it gave me 0x0000007b stop error

through a lot of trouble shooting I figured out the following.

I have to change in bios from raid to standard sata controller then server starts

I wait for a blue screen after logging in 0x0000001e,  go into safe mode it finds new controller being standard sata.

I restart server logs in with a message that states registry recovered for system hive.

If I reinable built in raid it will give me 0x0000007b stop error

but if I don't reenable raid, server will run but after every restart will complain about system hive recovered successfully.

I tried booting off windows server cd pressing f6 for controller using driver downloaded from hp at this location

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3580655&prodNameId=3580656&swEnvOID=1113&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-9f7f55abe7ff44bba2d1f186b2

it will not recognize the raid controller.

I even tried http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3580655&prodNameId=3580656&swEnvOID=1113&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-8477642557b945949af4dbf62a

I don't want to leave it running with 1 hard drive with the registry recovered error message.

So I need help figuring out why it wont recognize the raid controller either with the 0x7b blue screen or the windows cd startup.

1. Do you think it would be a good idea to do an inplace upgrade? which I need help figuring out  why it won't recognise f6 startup?

2. Should I just leave it with the registry recovered message with single hard drive?

3. I don't want to reinstall and have to recreat all domain and profile information. anyway to recover domain and active directory information if reinstalling?
