ML310 G5 RAID 10 S.M.A.R.T. Error SATA embedded controller

The background, ML310 G5 Server is 4 years old and today I received a warning email from the HP storage manager software that disc 0 has S.M.A.R.T error.

Can I replace Disc 0 before it fails. I cannot find how to remove it from the RAID using the HP storage manager software. Being a embedded controller it's not hot swappable all 4 bays are full so no spare. Any help Please..

Hi Andy,

Yes, you can replace the drive with SMART error.

Why do you want to remove the drive from RAID before replacement?

Which RAID is configured anyway?

You can replace the drive and it shall be rebuild.

Thanks for getting back tome. It's RAID 10. With the SMART error I was going replace the drive before it failed. I cannot see how to remove the drive in the HP Controller software with the embedded controller.

Hot Plug or not, there is No need to remove the drive.
You can simply replace the drive
