ML310 G8 V2 - Unable to update Intelligent Provisioning. iLO and IP displays different versions...

I have seen some threads regarding this issue and also some links to support documents.

The iLO was successfully updated to 2.77 on both my ML350p G8 and ML310 G0 V2.

The Intelligent provisioning update was succesful on the ML350p using DVD Boot but that procedure failed on the ML310. "Error Erasing NVRAM" Please try again. (Not successful. Pulling the AC plug for a cold boot did not help. IP version still displayed 1.53 (or something similar)). Logging on to iLO4 I could see that the version returned by IP was "1.72.9" No error messages about "....failed initialization". All checkmarks = green.

I have two different HPE support advisories: c04996097 and a00048622en_us

The question is: Since iLO reports "1.72.9" and IP reports "1.53" - Which procedure should I try to use for clearing and updating IP to 1.72 ?

Edit: BIOS is the latest version dated 2019.

Hello,

Please clear NVRAM on system using maintenance switch and check status

if same issue then capture a screenshot of version information from IP and ILO as well.

Thanks - And ... Which switch is that?

There is only one Maintenance switch on the MoBo with Settings information from 1 to 4:

1. iLO security

2. System configuration

3. Power-On password

4. ROM reads function as invalid

The rest, 3 - 12 "Reserved". I have not been able to find any information as to what these switches do.

Hello,

No # 6 switch is always maintenance switch , Please refer to page 68

Got an error message.

It seems that I have no credentials to see/read that document.

Got an error message.

Either the document ID is wrong or I have no account permissions to see that document...

Re: ML310 G8 V2 - Unable to update Intelligent Provisioning. iLO and IP displays different versions.

It seems that there are at least two versions of the service manual floating around. The one that I previously downloaded from HPE displays the information of the switches 1-4 but does not mention switch 6. I was able to download the version above and also the HPQLOCFG utility. As maybe mentioned before, iLO does not displays any "iLO Health" warning.

I will boldly proceed once I have backed up all the data on the server. The question is only which option that will requre the least reconfiguration effort or presenting the least risk of "bricking" the MoBo (if it exist)...
