ML330 G3 Server 2nd processor upgrade
ML330 G3 Tower server running on Microsoft office 2003.
Currently there is one processor in the board and everything is working fine, but yesterday when installing the 2nd processor there was a problem booting up. There was a red status light alternating to green from the front of the chassis. The LEDs made us believe that we had a failed processors in both bays. Another thing is that the fans that we are using are connected directly into the power source as I could not find a fan that used a 4 pin into the motherboard. I was wondering if by connecting the fans directly into the power source is the problem that prevents us from booting up the computer. If so what can i do to fix this problem.

Re: ML330 G3 Server 2nd processor upgrade
A few questions.
Did the cpu upgrade not come with the proper heatsink and fan assembly?
You MUST plug the fan in the the processor fan connector when a processor is installed.
What version rom are you running?
You should be at the latest rom version before you do the upgrade. Check the link below for rom info.
