ML350 G5 "Power supply error detected over voltage - Power supply error detected over current"
Hello everyone
I'm monitoring a remote server using Microsoft Operations Manager and recently received a "HP Hardware Component: Power Status" Critical Error. When I logged onto the server to check the power supply status via the System Management Homepage, I saw the error message stated in the subject line of this post.
I am assuming that at some point the voltage and current of the power being fed into the power supply exceeded normal levels and generated this alert. However, I don't know if the power supply has been damaged in some way or if this this just an informational alert logged for historical purposes.
I have tried clearing the Integrated Management Log and rebooting the server, however the error message still persists. I would be grateful if someone could let me know what I need to do to resolve this problem please.
Thanks
Mike

Re: ML350 G5 "Power supply error detected over voltage - Power supply error detected over curre
well, I would be inclined to replace the PSU. You never know what kind of damage a malfunctioning PSU can bring to other components in the machine.
But if you want to make sure it's nothing else you could update firmware/BIOS and the SMH. You could also try to swap the PSU in case you have dual in this server.

Re: ML350 G5 "Power supply error detected over voltage - Power supply error detected over curre
Their are quite known issues with ML350 G5 PSU/PSU backplane , get a replacement 403781-001 PSU to have the current PSU's replaced post which we can check for the errors
