ML350 G5 System board replaced

Hello,
I have replaced a system board on a G5 and someone has mentioned that one needs to reload the Operating system when the system board is replaced. Server 2003. The Server booted and functions just fine although it did lose the accessory NIC's IP information.
Once re-entered was fine.
What about the reload ?
