ML350 G5 - The Fan Sub-system has lost redundancy and returned to a redundant state
OS: Windows Server 2003 R2
Hi,
Since I installed the HP PSP 8.30 and all available updates on the Firmware maintenance CD 8.60, I have these warning events (in Windows event viewer) during the server startup:
Event ID: 1131
Event Source: Server Agents
Description :
System Information Agent: Health: The Fan Sub-system has lost redundancy. Replace any failed or missing fans.
Chassis: '0'
[SNMP TRAP: 6037 in CPQHLTH.MIB]
after I have this one:
Event ID: 1030
Event Source: Server Agents
Description :
System Information Agent: Health: The Fan Sub-system has returned to a redundant state.
Chassis: '0'
[SNMP TRAP: 6055 in CPQHLTH.MIB]
and Event ID: 1131 again and Event ID: 1030 again (six time) and thaht finish with event 1030 so i supposed it's correct but it's a litle bit Annoying.
Has anybody already had this problem and know which Firmware can correct it?
Thanks!
Jim

Re: ML350 G5 - The Fan Sub-system has lost redundancy and returned to a redundant state
I am experiencing these exact same problems on the same server, only difference is I'm running the x64 version of Win2003 Server (maybe you are too).
I have recently updated the HP software/drivers with the latest support pack, but have not run the 8.60 firmware update CD yet (and will postpone it until we get word). Just to check, have you downloaded/ran the newest support pack too?
Thanks!

I will continue to follow this thread and also tinker with this problem and post any possible fixes.

Re: ML350 G5 - The Fan Sub-system has lost redundancy and returned to a redundant state
I'm having the same issue on a couple of HP ML 350 G5's. Happened after Upgrading the HP Proliant 350 G5 servers using Firmware maintenance CD release 8.6 and Proliant Support Pack release 8.30.
The HP Management console under cooling also is only showing the fans as "undefined". Is there a reason for this? Could is be causing the fan redundancy error?

Re: ML350 G5 - The Fan Sub-system has lost redundancy and returned to a redundant state
I'm experiencing exactly the same problem on 2 servers.
Both are HP ProLiant ML350 G5 servers and problem appeared since I installed HP PSP 8.30. I updated the Bios to the latest version but the issue remains the same.
Exactly the same events as described here above are logged 6 times every time the servers restart.
I suppose fan operation is normal but the annoying thing is these severs therefore light up each time in our monitoring consoles.
Has someone found a solution or an explanation for this issue?
thanks!

Re: ML350 G5 - The Fan Sub-system has lost redundancy and returned to a redundant state
I have not found a fix yet. One of our servers is also rebooting at strange times unexpectedly. Not sure if it's related. No info in the IML except "valid data found in array accelerator"
As mentioned, this may be unrelated. But I'm curious if anyone finds a fix to the "server agent - lost redundancy/redundancy restored" errors.
Thanks!

Re: ML350 G5 - The Fan Sub-system has lost redundancy and returned to a redundant state
the last update we initiated was in january 2010. all components were updated. also the hdd disk firmware.
HP Proliant ML350 G4
Windows Server 2003 R2
Bios: D21-07/10/2009
last night we got this message also.
#######
System Information Agent: Health: The Fan Sub-system has lost redundancy. Replace any failed or missing fans.
Chassis: '0'
[SNMP TRAP: 6037 in CPQHLTH.MIB]
#######
is the problem still existing?

Re: ML350 G5 - The Fan Sub-system has lost redundancy and returned to a redundant state
PSP 8.40 appears to (finally) fix the problem. I have yet to try it on a second server, but I have a good feeling.
Thanks,

Re: ML350 G5 - The Fan Sub-system has lost redundancy and returned to a redundant state
How did you get the Bios version D21 for the ML350 G4?
