ML350 G6 - Replacing an 146GB HDD with a bigger one on a RAID5
Hi,
I have a ML350 G6 with 3x 146GB SFF HDD in RAID 5, running Windows Small Bussiness Server 2008. The ACU is reporting tis: 146 GB 2-Port SAS Drive at Port 1I : Box 1 : Bay 1 is predicted to fail soon.
Since I found out the an 300GB is cheaper than a 146GB HDD I want to buy 3 300GB HDD. I know if I replace the 146GB with an 300GB, only 146GB of this will be used.
My question is, can I replace this 146GB let the RAID rebuild it, then replace the second 146GB HDD, let the RAID rebuild, and then replace the last HDD. After the RAID has be rebuild with all the 300GB HDDs can I then expand the logical drive to have all the new space available? If yes, then I can expand the partion size on Windows.
Regards,
Edgar Santos

Exactly this would be the procedure.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
