ML350 Gen9 with UKNOWN PCIe NIC

Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem with my ML350 Gen9 server which fails to recognize Intel XL710-QDA2 40G NIC during normal boot.
The problem appears regardless of chosen PCIe slot - it shows it as Unknown via ILO4 (System Information - Device Inventory), and the card itself works when it is plugged into a desktop computer (after manual driver install). When booted into ESXi, the card Bus code is not even shown in the list of available devices. Apparently, this problem can't be fixed with ESXi external drivers since ESXi is not even aware that this card exists. The same goes when accessing BIOS, it's not listed in PCIe devices (BIOS ROM: P92 v2.76 (10/21/2019)).
Interestingly, when QSFP is plugged in it blinks with a 40G connection.

Has anyone here had a similar problem to point me in the right direction?
Thank you

Re: ML350 Gen9 with UKNOWN PCIe NIC

Looking at the quickspecs of the server model:-

https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/c04375628?jumpid=in_lit-psnow-red

We see only adapters with 1GB, 10GB and 25GB listed in the quickspecs and do not see a 40GB CNA card. We request you to use the only network adapters listed in the specs list as the 40G nic card has not been tested with this model.
