ml350, smart array 461 and adding new HDD to new array
My question is I have a raid5 setup using 4 drives on a smart array 461, and I have 2 open slots. I want to create a new mirrored raid1+0 (i think) with the other two open HDD slots, to be separate from the raid5 configuration. I have purchased the drives but when I add the array they show up as raid0 no fault tolerance and do not show up as a drive on my system. I dont need another controller card to do this do I?
Then once I get them loaded how should I go about in formating the drives to make them usable? I believe this is why they aren't showing up.

Re: ml350, smart array 461 and adding new HDD to new array
Hello Andrew,
If you simply add them to the server they will show up as just Raid 0. Have you configured them and created the logical drives in the Array Config Utility?
If not, here is the link to install it, this should be all you need. (Windows version)

Here is a guide to use the ACU as well:

Please post back if you have any other details!

Chris
