ML350p G8 - Fan Solution Not Sufficient - ALL fans failing?
On restarting the Server, it posted with RAM an CPU, then proceeded with:
1611 -Fan 1 Missing
1611 -Fan 2 Missing
1611 -Fan 3 Missing
1611 -Fan 4 Missing
Fan Solution Not Sufficient
Critical Failure Detected - System Shutting down in 5 Seconds!
Obviously the error is pointing out that the iLO hasn’t detected any of the 4 fans, and has shut down to stop overheating.
Many have posted about this error, but usually only pertaining to having 1 fan not being detected, usually being a non redundant fan.
My case, ALL fans are not detected. The fans are, however, on, spinning, and the 4 fan lights on the MB are all lit up with a GREEN LED.
I’ve tried cleaning the contacts, swapping fans, even resetting the NVRAM (switch 6)… to no avail.
Does anyone know of what is happening? Have i missed something? Should i roll back the BIOS? is there anything else i can do, other than buy a replacement montherboard?
It just seems odd that all of a sudden ALL fans aren’t recognised, when before they were all working fine.
Appreciate any help here guys… thanks in advance!

Re: ML350p G8 - Fan Solution Not Sufficient - ALL fans failing?
Hello,
As the server is not able to stay powered on, and the NVRAM has also been cleared, I recommend that the server be powered on with base configuration.
This involves, removing all expansion cards, the SAS cables connecting the hard drives to the system board etc and having only the processors and memory installed on the system and power on the server.
If the server powers on, then add one component at a time and power on the server to isolate the defective issue. Ensure that you installed known working fans and memory modules on the server before powering on the server with minimum configuration.

Will do! Thanks for the help, will give that a go.
Will report back after giving that a shot.
Would clearing the BIOS (and iLO) also help? i noticed in the boot up sequence, it also states "HP Power Profile Mode: Custom" - might see if i can change that to default...?
Thanks again!

Re: ML350p G8 - Fan Solution Not Sufficient - ALL fans failing?
So, everything has been pulled out, including the SAS cables conected to the motherboard, as suggested, CD ROM etc etc.
All that's connected are the 2x E5-2630's, and 96Gb's of RAM (the RAM having not been touched or interrferered with AT ALL).
Still having the same problem - Fan is missing (also confirmed that, it has this same error weather or not i have the complete fan cage removed or not - yet, when the fan cage is connected, ALL 4 fans and spin up to max speed, and all 4 fan LED's on the mother board light up green).
Still not sure why it would say there are no fan connected, when the fans are receiving power, and being ramped up from an idle, to max.
is there a way to bypass the motherboard looking for the fans during boot up (at least to get to BIOS settings) whilst keeping the fans on at 100%?

Re: ML350p G8 - Fan Solution Not Sufficient - ALL fans failing?
I've also removed and replaced the CMOS battery, in case it was faulty.
Unfortuately, i can't log into iLO anymore... didn't really think that throught. And now i can't reset the iLO password, because i can't get into BIOS, as the computer wont finish POST before restarting, due to the 1611 error...

Re: ML350p G8 - Fan Solution Not Sufficient - ALL fans failing?
Hello,
As the server does not complete POST with bare minimum configuraiton and along with replaicng CMOS battery, the issue needs further investigation.
At this stage it is recommended to contact HPE Support with detailed steps performed along with the result of each step for further assistance.
