Well, I was initially encouraged by Michael's response. I proceeded with our installation with the confirmation from Michael that it will work.

It did work for us. We used the HP Utilities v. 8.0 to install Windows Server 2008 Standard on our ML370G4. The Windows2003-to-Windows2008 issue appeared when the Windows 2003 dynamic drives established in Windows 2003 are no longer active in Windows Server 2008... (sigh)

I'm taking the remaining issue over to the storage forum...
