ML750 Array Controllers
Just dug into my ML 750:
2 x COMPAQ 171383-001 SMART ARRAY 5300 2 CHANNEL
2 x HP COMPAQ 401858-001 SCSI Smart Array
1 x Adaptec 3944 AUWD
Why would a server have so many controllers?
None of the 5 in the parts list
There are two listed in the parts list but not in the server.
27695-291 Smart Array 431 Controller with 16MB cache - PCI to Single Channel, Wide Ultra3, SCSI Adapter
401858-001 3-Channel Ultra2 array 4250ES controller
It would appear that someone had made modifications.
Thanks
Robert

Re: ML750 Array Controllers
Correction: The 2 x HP COMPAQ 401858-001 SCSI Smart Array are 425ES controllers and ist.
Question remains: Why would there be so many?
Thanks
Robert

Re: ML750 Array Controllers
Another correction. Junk them all and the drives. Got 2 PCI cards with 800 gb SSD's and 2 adapters with 240 gb SSD's.

Re: ML750 Array Controllers
Hello
The Smart Array 4250ES Controller (3-Channel Ultra2 array 4250ES controller) is the default storage controller of the server.
The presence of all the other controllers indicate that they have been installed and connected to various internal drives and external drives such as to Modular Storage Arrays (MSA) or other storage arrays.
You may use them as is required.
Click here for the server's QuickSpecs.
