Moving Hard drives to new server

We have a DL380 G3 server running Novell 5.1 which is having some integrated NIC issues. I was asked if we could simply swap drives to a different G3 and be up and running quickly.
I have never attempted this so I figured I would ask if this is possible.

Thanks,
S Morrison

I've succeeded in doing it before. To be on the safe side, I just made sure components in the two server was as identical as possible. i.e. Same controller, same firmware version.

Yep. It works for me as well.

The best thing is that you can move them back to old the server if it doesn't work.

Steve- I have done this countless times. and it has always worked. Just be sure to have the drivers/ firmware up to date and clear the NVRAM. be sure to transfer the array accelerator too if you have one installed. the server wont misss a beat.
thanks!
