Multiple Processor
I have a ML570 with 2 700MHZ 2MB processors configured as terminal server. With 25 concurrent users running access the system is getting slow. Performamce Viewer indicated that processor utilization on both processors is 100% Does anyone have any idea what kind of performance increase I could expect when I add 2 extra processors. Can I just expect twice the performance?
Thanks,
Oscar Koeleman

PREPARING Windows NT TO USE MULTIPLE PROCESSORS
Special Consideration
When a conversion is being done, Windows NT 4.0 files must be retrieved from the Windows NT installation media. When prompted for the path of the Windows NT files, enter the path to the media. If you apply a Service Pack, Compaq Server Support Setup (SSD) for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 will prompt you to enter the Service Pack media.
If Compaq Server Support Setup for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Version 2.12C (or later) does not detect the media or you insert the incorrect media, you will receive a Setup message. After pressing the OK button, you will receive an Insert Source Media message. At which time, you may press the Ignore button and manually enter the path (\\ i386 directory). To avoid installing incompatible files onto your system, which may cause your system to become inoperable, you must ensure that the correct source media is used.
When running Compaq SSD for Windows NT 4.0 versions prior to Version 2.12C, you will receive messages stating that the service pack is not supported and you will not be able to upgrade your HAL.
Converting
To upgrade the driver from a single processor to a multiprocessor or vice-versa, follow these steps:
Make sure you have an updated ?Emergency Repair diskette? before continuing.
1. Log on to Windows NT with an account that has administrative privileges.
2. Insert the Smart Start CD and Run the Compaq SSD for Windows NT Setup Program (SETUP.EXE) from the Cpqsupsw\Ntssd directory on the CD. If you do not have a Smart Start CD, you can download the latest SSD from: http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server/softpaqs/WINNT/NTSSD400.html
Download, ?English (Complete SSD) (Files rather than diskettes)?. Expand files to a temporary directory on the server. Open the temporary directory the files were expanded to and run SETUP.EXE.
3. Select Upgrade or Downgrade on the Custom Installation screen in the Setup program.
4. Insert the Windows NT CD or Service Pack when prompted to do so.
5. Exit the Setup program or select other components to install, update, or remove.
6. Choose the option to restart the computer now and remove the diskette upon exiting the Setup program.
