Multiproccessor problems

I installed a second proccessor and did the changes for the hal and the system setup, but now the machine just continues to reboot. It goes to the login screen, but nothing but the green background apears. After about a 20 second delay, a blue screen pops up but it reboots before I can read it. It just keeps doing this over and over. Any help?

Re: Multiproccessor problems

First check the Compaq part numbers for the processor and processor power module that was installed. Make sure you used the correct parts for a Proliant 2500. See the QRG for spare part number information at this web address.

Next run the Compaq system configuration program and set the processor APIC mode to full table map. Save the new hardware configuration to CMOS.

You have to update the HAL to the multiprocessor HAL using the Compaq NT 4.0 SSD. Did you update the HAL using this method? If not, the required Compaq drivers are no longer installed. Download the required Compaq SSD from this web address.

See the readme files for installation instructions.
