@Oka_Adi21321

Good day!

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

>> Ensure that the HDD you purchased is compatible with the Proliant DL20 Gen9 server. Check the server's specifications and supported hardware list to verify compatibility.

>> Double-check the physical connections between the HDD and the server. Ensure that the SATA or SAS cable is securely connected to both the HDD and the server's backplane.

>> Confirm that the drive bay where you installed the new HDD is functioning properly. Try installing the HDD in a different drive bay to rule out any issues with a specific bay.

>> Update the server's firmware and drivers to the latest versions.

>> If you're using a RAID controller, verify that it recognizes the new HDD. Access the RAID controller's configuration utility during server startup (usually by pressing a specific key combination) and check if the HDD is detected.

>> If the server's operating system has already been installed, you may need to scan for new hardware devices or update the device drivers within the OS.

>> Access the server's BIOS settings and ensure that the SATA or SAS ports are enabled. Additionally, check for any relevant storage-related settings and adjust them if necessary.

>> If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that the HDD itself is defective. Try connecting the HDD to a different computer or server to determine if it is detected there. If not, you may need to contact the manufacturer or the place of purchase for a replacement.

Hope this helps! Let me know...

Re: my New HDD is not read in Proliant DL20 Gen 9

Yes, the RAID setup could indeed be a factor in the new HDD not being recognized in your Proliant DL20 Gen9 server. Here are some possible reasons why the RAID setup might be affecting the detection:

>> If your Proliant DL20 Gen9 server is using hardware RAID (e.g., RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, etc.), the RAID controller needs to recognize the new HDD and add it to the existing array or create a new one. If the RAID controller is not detecting the new HDD, it won't be visible to the operating system.

>> If the new HDD is intended to replace a failed or removed drive in an existing RAID array, the RAID controller might be in the process of rebuilding the array. During this time, the new HDD won't appear as a separate disk until the rebuild process is complete.

>> Ensure that the new HDD is compatible with your RAID controller and RAID configuration. Not all HDDs are compatible with all RAID controllers, and using an incompatible HDD may result in detection issues.

>> If your Proliant DL20 Gen9 supports hot-swapping of drives (the ability to replace drives while the system is running), make sure that the hot-swap feature is enabled in the BIOS and RAID controller settings.

To troubleshoot the RAID-related issue, you can try the following steps:

>> During the server startup process, watch for a prompt (often displayed on-screen) to access the RAID controller's configuration utility. This is usually done by pressing a specific key combination, such as Ctrl + R, Ctrl + H, or similar, depending on the RAID controller used in your server.

>> Once in the RAID configuration utility, check the status of your RAID array. Ensure that all existing drives are detected and functioning correctly. If the new HDD is not listed, it may not be recognized by the RAID controller.

>> If the RAID controller recognizes the new HDD, follow the steps to add it to an existing RAID array or create a new one, depending on your requirements.

>> If the new HDD is intended to replace a failed or removed drive, allow the RAID controller to rebuild the array. This process might take some time, depending on the size and configuration of the RAID array.

I hope this helps! Let me know...

Re: my New HDD is not read in Proliant DL20 Gen 9

Please check the datasheet below, i not found the drive supports, you mentioned.

HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen9 Server

The DL20 Gen9 always has a dynamic smart array controller B140i installed.

This works in UEFI mode only.

You have an additional H240 controller, so you need to check where the disks are connected.

If the DL20 supports intelligent provisioning, press F10 during boot or go into the array config tool from system utilities menu (F9) in order to check and configure the controller.

The B140i supports SATA drives only, the H240 supports SATA and SAS.

The B140i supports 6Gbit speed, the H240 up to 12Gbit.

Make sure the cable to the disk is NOT connected to the systemboard, but to the additional H240 card.
