NCU 8.7 doesn't work under Windows 2003 Enterprise "error occurred when making a call in to the OS'

When launching NCU 8.7, receive message "An error occurred when making a call into the operating system", click OK and no NCU and icon disappears from taskbar. Attempts to launch from icon in Control panel results in same error message. NCU 8.7 works fine in Windows 2003 Standard, problem only in Enterprise. Below are the driver, software revisions where problem occurs (these are the versions packaged with PSP 7.9). Tried upgrading nic drivers and utility to the latest versions found on hp.com which has no effect. Downgrading nic, ncu revisions to those packaged with PSP 7.7 and it works without issue.

685c
NCU: 8.70.0.0
NC326i: 10.39.0.0
NC373i: 3.4.10.0

465c
NCU: 8.70.0.0
NC370i: 3.4.10.0

Upgrading to latest revisions doesn’t fix: NCU: 8.80.0.0
NC326i: 10.42.0.0
NC373i: 3.4.10.0 B

Issue doesn’t exist with PSP 7.7 revisions: 685c
NCU: 8.55.0.10
NC326i: 9.81.0.0
NC373i: 2.8.18.0

465c
NCU: 8.55.0.10
NC370i: 2.8.18.0

mmm... one thought would be try updating the firmware for the NIC cards


I know this is not a good recommendation but what about if you try drivers from PSP 7.7 version and install NCU

ans something I dont know which server you have but as fas as I know the latest NCU is 8.8

Works great with 7.7 psp (read original post). Only issue is with the ncu 8.7 or greater and 2003 enterprise. Firmware on the nics? How do you do that...through the firmware maint cd?

yes download the latest Firmware Cd 7.91 and upgrade NICs
