need help fixing a filed network configuration utility upgrade

Hi,
I was applying NSSD 8 to a win2k3 server and seemed to fail when in the process of upgrading the network configuration utility. Now, I do not have network connectivity. I dissolved the team, and try to recreate it. now, when I create a new team, seems to go ok, but immediately comes up as 'disconnected' and when I go in to NCU, no team shows even though a team device shows in dev mgr. I guess i would like to completely remove and re-install...how?

thanks for your help

Re: need help fixing a filed network configuration utility upgrade

Hi,
It is a dl-360G3 with embedded nc3163's and a nc7131

I want to COMPLETELY remove the NCU and re-install, but it will not come out. I have gone into properties of the NIC and un-installed NCU....this seemed to work, but when I rebooted and re-installed, I had the same issue.

thanks

Re: need help fixing a filed network configuration utility upgrade

Hi,
I have current versions already, the issue is that when I tried to apply v8 of the NSSD, during the NCU upgrade, something happened and the install hung. after that, NCU (teaming) does not work. I have since re-installed NCU successfully, but teaming still does not work. I believe that a registry entry (or something) is corrupt. I am trying to learn how to cleanly and completely remove the NCU so I can re-install.

Re: need help fixing a filed network configuration utility upgrade

I am having the same problem except I am on a DL380 G2. This install is only a month old and it ran fine until Monday when I was preparing to put the system into production so I went into the Version Control Agent and updated everything to current. When the system rebooted it did not come back on the network. I checked and the NIC team was missing. When I tried to recreate the team the two imbedded nics show plugged in but the cables are gray in the NCU. When I return to the NCU after applying the changes the two nics show blue and active but the team is missing. Like Tony the team shows up in Device Manager, in fact I had two Team #1 entries. I have deleted all of the network devices in device manager and reinstalled the drivers. I even tried to go back to NCU 8.80 and older NIC drivers. Currently the system is running on 1 nic.

System details:
DL380 G2
1 - 1.40GHz P III
1 GB RAM
Win2k3 Standard Edition SP2
All current Windows updates
All current HP VCA updates
VCA shows NCU v9.10.0.0 but NCU says it is 9.10.0.14
Network Teaming Intermdiat Driver is 9.10.0.0
NIC drivers 8.0.43.0

I spent 5 hours today trying everything I know. I even reinstalled PSP 8.0 and forced all components to reinstall/downgrade and ran VCA again to get to current testing the Team creation every step of the way.

Hi,

Exact same issue here with a DL380 G2.

Any ideas, really need to get this server up and running with teamed network card.

Ok got it working but had to downgrade the drivers to:

Network card NC3163 : 8.0.43.0

HP Network Utility : 8.70.0.0

Give that a go, not really a fix though !!!

Thanks Hazlewoods,
That worked for me too. Of course my Team connection number is now 13, that may not be lucky ;-)

Re: need help fixing a filed network configuration utility upgrade

Guys

If you look at my posting from a few days ago I have just had the same pain.

Despite the matrix showing that a DL380 G2 should support PSP8 my experience has found it does not and 7.91 does not work either.
The latest version for a G2 I have found to work is PSP7.90

For a G4 I have had different issues with "Large Send Offload" getting disabled by the upgrade of the NCU.
When this is disabled the team disappears.
You have to manually go into the card settings and re-enable.

Hope this helps.

Simon
