Need to change default 4G partition size using old SmartStart
Hi all,
I am attempting to write disaster recovery procedures by staging old servers as copies of production servers. However, the only servers I have available for testing are old Proliant 3000's. Therefore I am using SmartStart 4.90, which only allows me to create a C: partition of up to 4 GB. This simply isn't large enough for my purposes.
We have Norton Partition Magic 8, but it doesn't run on Windows 2000 Server. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to override the SmartStart limitation, or if there is a tool/product available for resizing the W2K server partition?
Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks,
- Steve

Re: Need to change default 4G partition size using old SmartStart
my solution is :
1. use w2k os CD to install PL3000 ,but you must prepare raid card driver with floppy disk.
2.When server boots from w2k CD ,press F6 and load raid card driver.
3.During install os process, you can assign more then 4GB partition for system.
4.Use Smartstart CD to update hw driver and utility after OS installation.
or you can try smartstart 5.5 to install os.

Re: Need to change default 4G partition size using old SmartStart
Hi Terence,
Thanks! Does SmartStart 5.5 allow partition sizes of over 4 GB? I was not aware of that.
Thanks,
- Steve
