Dear Expert,
Can we use same SPP for both HPE Proliant 380 Gen10 servers & HPE Proliant 385 Gen10 Plus V2 servers?
As we have both servers and need to update the firmwre of the same servers. Please advise.

Dear ejaz_edarat
Same SPP is used for Gen10 & 10 plus. Please download the SPP from below link.

Re: need to know the compatibility of the SPP for Proliant 385 Gen10 plus V2 server
@rabindra11sharm I am reaching out to seek your expert advice regarding an upcoming firmware upgrade of our Azure Stack HCI environment. Below are the details
Server : HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen10+ V2
Operating System : Microsoft Azure Stack HCI 10.0.20349
OS version & Build : 22H2 & 203492527
Current iLO Version : 2.97 Sep 12, 2023
We are considering upgrading the firmware to 2024.04.00.00 and released date is April 19, 2024, and I want to ensure that we follow best practices to minimize any potential disruptions.
Here are some specific points where we would appreciate your guidance:
- Compatibility: Could you confirm if the new firmware version is fully compatible with our current hardware and software configurations?
- Prerequisites: Are there any specific prerequisites or dependencies we need to address before proceeding with the upgrade?
- Procedure: Can you provide or confirm the recommended upgrade procedure, including any tools or steps we should follow?
- Known Issues: Are there any known issues or potential risks associated with this firmware version that we should be aware of?
- Testing and Rollback: What is the best approach for testing the upgrade in a staging environment and preparing for a rollback in case of any issues?

Re: need to know the compatibility of the SPP for Proliant 385 Gen10 plus V2 server
Dear ejaz_edarat
It is best practice to take full data backup wih VM files before upgrading firmwares for any OEM server.
- Compatibility: SPP 2024.04.00.00 is compatable for both model Gen10 and Gen10plus
- Prerequisites: It's recommended for full data backup before firmware upgrade for any recovery/ restoration requaired. Also make all VM in maintanance mode. or move to another node.
- Procedure: A. make a bootable USB media, boot your server from USB media, run SPP in intractive mode for choosing firmware version which you want to upgrade. B. mount ISO immage in iLO vertual media and boot your server from virtual media to update firmware. C. mount iso image to virtual media or USB media run run launch_sum application from your windows guest OS to upgrade firmware, HPE applications, tools. drivers.
- Known Issues: if there is iLO5 3.06 version upgraded, it may your server FANs produced laoud noice. Please update separately ilo5 firmware 3.07. (this is issue not happen in all servers.)
- Testing and Rollback: You can roll it back by downgrade your firmware version by using currently installed version firmware but if any severy issue/ mallfunction will occured after upgradation it will not be resolved every time after roll back. that time you may have to replace the faulty/affected part. suguested to log a support case if server is in warrenty.
Thanks & Regards...

Re: need to know the compatibility of the SPP for Proliant 385 Gen10 plus V2 server
Dear ejaz_edarat
I am not sure because not useing Azure stack HCI OS, which is a versatile OS from the house of Microsoft to use virtualization and cloud services. I checked for the HPE ProLiant for Microsoft Azure Stack HCI Firmware and Software Compatibility Guide and it provides only information about Gen11 servers and does not seem to provide information about Gen10 or Gen10 plus. Any ways SPP can supported for your server and installed all the hardwares. if you run SPP in offline mode. it definetly upgrade firmware versions for your server, but may not update drivers, and HPE tools as it run in off line mode. As I know that Azure stack servers are little difference from another servers.
As per my suggetion you can check compatibility information from Azure team, they will guid you better as their is many dependecy for license and tools. do not update firmware self recommendation, un-neccessary.
Thanks & Regards...
