Network Load Balancing

I was trying to configure network load balancing on a HP server with 4 gigabit network adapters, i used a switch assisted network load balancing and configured my cisco 6500 switch for port channeling.
it worked and i have load balancing working and traffic is going over all the adapters and shows that the speed is 4G.
but when trying to send data to the server the total of all the traffic on all the adapters didnt exceed the 1Gb.

Is there a trick or away to get a speed higher than this 1Gb, like why couldnt i get a 4Gb ? ? ?

Howdy,
Is it possible that your server can't actually push out over 1Gb a second. Sustained 100MB/sec is no mean feat. How many disks do you have on the back end of your server to push data out from?
What are the capabilities of the server you are sending to? How are you pushing the data - via FTP?
You do have a multi Gb pipe coming out of the switch as well don't you?

The software i have is veritas netbackup, it is recieving data not sending, it is receiving the data from multiple servers at the same time and the load on the network stays around the 1Gb but not exceeding that number.
The switch is a high end switch and its core can give up to 4Gb.
thats why i'm thinking that the limitation is from the server, i think it can send more than the 1Gb but it can not receive more than that.
