NIC teaming guidelines

We have a new DL380/G5 that has 2 embedded HP NC373i’s and an additional HP NC373T riser card. Is it recommend or a usable condition for one of the HPNC373i NIC2 to be teamed with the HP NC373T riser card?

Re: NIC teaming guidelines

They are the same NIC, one integrated on motherboard, the other in a PCI-Express slot.
Make sure you're using the latest firmware, drivers and teaming software, and test the connection, because many people are reporting problems if TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) is enabled.

hi Jesse Sanchez

that would a good practice create a NIC Teaming using one embedded and from the PCI card, you're gonna get more fault tolerance...

in the case PCI card dies the other from System board is up and of course in the embedded dies the PCI is up.

Re: NIC teaming guidelines

thanks all for the quick response. The TOE option is one that I had not checked and the errors described are some that we are seeing. Again thanks for the assistance.
