Make sure you're using the latest firmware, drivers and teaming software, and test the connection, because many people are reporting problems if TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) is enabled.

that would a good practice create a NIC Teaming using one embedded and from the PCI card, you're gonna get more fault tolerance...
in the case PCI card dies the other from System board is up and of course in the embedded dies the PCI is up.
