NLB not Available in Application Center

DL360 w/W2K server (not advanced server)
Application Center 2000 beta 2
RIB lights out
nc3163 onboard dual port NIC
Do I have to install a second NIC in the PCI slot to make AC2K work with Network Load Balancing? The option is grayed out currently when we get to that point in the cluster creation, even though I have the appropriate number of connections (2) (not counting the RIB) and IP addresses configured (two on the "front plane" network, including one that is the Virtual IP, and one on the "back plane" network). Microsoft says something about having two GUIDs for the NIC's. Does the onboard Compaq NIC have a single GUID for both ports, or two GUIDs (one for each port)?
Any help would be appreciated...

Re: NLB not Available in Application Center

I don't know if this will help, but here were some req. posted for AppCenter: "The default installation of Application Center on Windows 2000 Server automatically installs Network Load Balancing (NLB). Upon installation, NLB is not enabled until you create an NLB cluster. Because Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Windows 2000 Datacenter Server already contain NLB, when you install Application Center on either of these operating systems, Application Center Setup does not install NLB.
Caution All servers added to a cluster must have the same directory and drive structure as the cluster controller. Ensure that the server being added has the same System Root, Program Files path, and Application Center installation directory path as the controller. NLB
If you use NLB with Application Center, the controller and members each require at least two network adapters. Additionally, the controller requires one static IP address. This will be the primary (virtual) address of the cluster. The members do not require static IP addresses."

I'd like to know how this works out because we're planning to test/deploy AppCenter on an NLB cluster of DL380's. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

Re: NLB not Available in Application Center

Thanks for responding. We found that the AC2K BETA we were working with did not support NLB, but RC2 (and the subsequent actual release version) did. We actually are using the two onboard nic ports on the DL360 as "separate" nic cards for the install, so the GUIDs must be different. That's a good thing! Did not try with any nc31XX dual port nic cards from Compaq, so I'm not sure how that will work if you have that interface card. Good luck with your NLB.

Re: NLB not Available in Application Center

Compaq can not provide support for most beta products.

Re: NLB not Available in Application Center

Thanks on. As you can see from my previous post, the problem was resolved.
