drives are recognized at startup thru cmos but not at any other time.
trying to install op-sytem. rompaqs do not see c: or cdrom.

What is the name of the Softpaq file you downloaded and are trying to install? The ROM update disk for the Prosignia 300 is a DOS disk. You have to boot the system with the disk. You can download the Prosignia 300 system ROM update from this web address.

Run the SP14126.EXE program to make the required update floppy disk.
