no video signal
I am trying to rebuild an old server. Have purchased an old Proliant 2000. It presently has two drives. It powers up okay and starts the drives without incedent. From what I understand it does not have an operating system on it. My probelm is that I can't get a video signal the entire time. I have tried two monitors that I know work and two video cards. I have done this with the disable video jumper in both positions. I am open to suggestions. I would also like to know do these servers post like a desktop? Do they have a CMOS, etc.?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: no video signal
Do you have power and does the fans blow on the unit? If yes, can the the memory count and processor size and speed show on the black POST screen? If the answer is no, you have a memory problem or processor or Voltage Regulator problem. If the answer to my question is yes, then what is the POST Error Codes that show up on the Screen?
The answer to your next question is the BIOS has to be configured or reconfigured if devices has been added or removed for any reason. The BIOS or CMOS some customers may call it can be reconfigured with Compaq Smart Start CD or Compaq System Configuration Utility, which can be downloaded from www.compaq.com/support/files/allsp.html. Softpaq sp14381.exe can be downloaded to hard drive, extracted from hard drive and automatically, floppies will be made that are bootable to configure any Compaq Server.

Re: no video signal
Hello,
Please bring down the server to minimum configuration by removing extra devices you may have. If there is any KVM please eliminate that. Usually No video is caused by CPU/RAM not sitting in properly or are incompatible.
