Re: nvidia tnt2 pci video doesnt work ??
i use riva tnt 2 m64 16mb from innovision (www.inno3d.com). everything run smoothly. prosignia is pci 2.1 compliant so any card that support it will fit. you should be more specific about this. what happened exactly? you can't go through POST? or you can't loading windows?

Re: nvidia tnt2 pci video doesnt work ??
well, i am not a computer tech but i have a few experience with upgrading prosignia, perhaps these can help you :
1. do you have the latest bios? mine is 09/14/2002. upgrade your bios from compaq website.
2. is there any POST messages appear? what did it try to tell you? take a note from any code that appear. (if post cant go on at all then we have to check other possibilities)
3. check your chipset located near processor at system board, prosignia II/233 use intel 440fx chipsets (there are two of them), these chipsets are fully compatible with Riva chips as it is with pci 2.1 standards.
3. if you can see your monitor go on (the monitor display few text describe your card chip, bios version and RAM installed) and suddenly the system hang then there must be another factor beside the card itself.
4. try the card to another computer, does it work? if it yes then your card is perfectly fine. some of my friends tell me that riva tnt2 m64 require at least 64 mb of ram installed at systemboard (it has nothing to do with "m64" code, that just explain 64 bit memory bandwith this card use) and prosignia requires at least 32 mb of ram installed to operate. how much memory installed? fpm or edo ram? dont put the card at pci/isa share slot, use pci independent slot, the best is to put it at nearest slot from system board, slot 2.
5. if you change it back to STB card, does the computer work? this is the most important, if this cannot go on, try another vga card, if that dont work too, you have to suspect the system board with other peripherals connected to it.
6. have you changed memory, soundcard or other peripherals lately? these can cause the problem. what are peripherals connected to your computer? do you use SCSI controller? or other controller (such as Promise Ultra ATA PCI)? put these server into the original-last-known configuration. then try to see if its work, if yes, then some peripherals may have a bios conflict with the riva tnt card bios. see your vga card's module manufacturer web site for further info. i use innovision module (www.inno3d.com). there are many modules manufacturer such as pixel view, creative 3d blaster, etc.
if no, then something has happened to your system board.
7. be careful with static electricity. put the sideplane cage every time before you turn the server on. dont get used to work with this server being "naked". i ruined my yamaha soundcard last year because of this. the card totally unusable now.
please let me know any progression.
