only 16384 KB showing up on Proliant 1600

I have a Proliant 1600 with 2 600 Mhz processors and 3 sticks of compaq 128 MB ram. It had been working fine until a message came up that said :

172-System Configuration Nonvolatile Memory Invalid
Initialization Aborted

I burned a cd for SmartStart 5.50, but when I put the cd in, now it only shows 16384 KB of memory. It still shows the 172 error and now also shows:

162- System Options Not Set

when is starts to boot the smartstart cd it gets to the splash screen and reboots everytime, I assume because it doesn't think it has the required minimum of 32 megs of ram.

Hopefully someone here can help.

The BIOS is P08 (dated 7/14/1999)

I'm guessing nobody has seen this problem before? Is there any hope to getting this server back operational or is it a lossed cause? Anyone have any idea?
