P212 Raid Controller - Support for 6TB?

We currently have a DL120 G7 and 4x6TB WD Red Drives, and would like to utilize the server for a NAS.

We have a partner that has a P212 RAID controller spare, I realise the quickspecs sheet says it supports up to 4TB drives, but has this been updated with firmware?

Re: P212 Raid Controller - Support for 6TB?

Hi,

I don't think P212 will get a firmware update to support 6TB hard drive.

Even with the latest release here, I don't see any fixes for 6TB support.

Thank You!

Re: P212 Raid Controller - Support for 6TB?

This is a total guess on my part, but if the controller supports 4TB it should support more.  Once you cross the 2TB threshold, that means the controller is already capable of > 2TB.  It might have only mentioned 4TB support since that's all that was available at the time?

Again, that's just my educated guess.  If you try it out, post back here and let us know how it worked since that will help the next person.
